AutoCAD 2017 has several new features and performance enhancements. AutoCAD 2017 has also been fully updated with many new features and technology improvements, and compatibility with Microsoft Windows 10.

System requirements

AutoCAD is an intensively used CAD program and as such it requires a good amount of system resources. These resources include computer hardware and operating system software. The system requirements for AutoCAD depend on the specific platform for which you are planning to use it, the rendering and modeling features you want to use, and the hardware and software platform that you intend to use it with.

Requirements for creating and editing objects

Create objects

You must be connected to a network to create objects. Network connection requirements for creating objects vary based on the network type, the geographic location of the server, and the type of object being created. If you use a network connected to a server that is close to your computer, the performance of the network connection between your computer and the server will determine how fast you can create objects.

For more information about network types and connection requirements for creating objects, see Network connections (top of this page).

Manage objects

You can manage objects without being connected to a network.

You can also manage objects only if you have administrator access.

Requirements for rendering objects

AutoCAD supports the following rendering formats:

AutoCAD supported rendering formats are dependent on what the platform that you are using. AutoCAD rendering requirements vary depending on what platform you are using it on. Rendering is more intensive on desktop than mobile.

AutoCAD rendering formats vary between platforms.

Requirements for modeling objects

AutoCAD is used by over 3 million users worldwide, and generates approximately $5 billion a year in revenue for Autodesk.

AutoCAD 1982 was a product of a team of engineers that began working on a drawing program called ADG (Automatic Drafting Graphics). Originally, ADG was a batch drawing program that would use existing data, such as a drawing in a CAD package or a drawing created in a word processor, to be used in the process of creating a new drawing. Because ADG would produce only a new drawing, it was not practical to produce more than a single drawing in a session. ADG was released in 1983 and subsequently rewritten to produce two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional objects. It was one of the first, and one of the most popular commercial CAD programs, and was eventually bundled with most of the other products from Autodesk. By 1995, more than 200,000 CAD users were using the software.

In 1990, a new program called CAD Manager was released. CAD Manager was a variant of AutoCAD which would enable users to create their own layouts for drafting and engineering purposes.

In 1992, AutoCAD was bundled with the application Design Review, which allowed users to preview their drawings in a Windows environment. In 1994, Autodesk released AutoCAD R14. AutoCAD R14 allowed users to import and export.dwg files as well as.dxf files. This allowed users to create.dwg files on other platforms without having to convert the files. However, R14 also contained many design changes, and new features were not adopted for many years. The native file format for AutoCAD was.dwg, although the user could import or export in several other formats as well. The new format supported a more consistent platform, and allowed for a better file format in the future.

By the late 1990s, CAD Manager was discontinued in favor of a version of AutoCAD that was more like the Windows version, allowing users to import and export the native format. AutoCAD 2000 was introduced in 2000, and replaced the previous version of AutoCAD. AutoCAD 2000 contained many new features, such as some 2D and 3D modeling tools, including the ability to create 2D objects as templates and then modify them. AutoCAD added support for 2D drawing views, and allowed users to define tools and routines and save

As it turns out, that apparently isn’t an exaggeration. A news item about the whereabouts of the so-called “Jesus Christ Superstar” — which once made a bid for Broadway but is now on tour with Billy Joel — surfaced this week, prompting one online wag to remark, “I have to believe that there is no such person, but the headline has me laughing out loud.” (The New York Post calls it “the ultimate Lord of the Rings rip-off.”)

The purported hoax was reported in the Miami Herald last month. And it would be an understatement to say that the story caught the attention of various promoters and others, many of them claiming, as James Otto’s Christian Mediawatch does, that Joel is not just a fan but a participant in the musical. (Like most things that Joel has said and done over the years, there’s an element of truth in it, as his 1993 memoir among other things makes clear.) Joel told the Herald he had not heard of the musical, nor did he know anything about the supposed Christ figure.

“This has got to be the biggest hoax in show business history,” Otto wrote.

“I’ve been promoting concerts around the country for 15 years and I’ve never heard of this. Billy Joel isn’t a Jesus Christ fanatic. This is the most preposterous fake story I’ve ever heard of.”

But on this morning’s Fox & Friends, Joel’s publicist tried to set the record straight, saying that the Christ figure is not actually in the production but was simply mentioned in a promo for the concert, which Joel is part of.

“We’re in Seattle, not Miami,” Publicist Bernie Taupin told Fox & Friends, “and I think the production and the movie that the musical was based on was written and based in New York, not in Seattle.

As the number of CAD users continues to grow, we’ve listened to feedback to improve AutoCAD. This release includes the following features.

Markup Import and Markup Assist

Import markup or track changes into AutoCAD as you work. Apply track changes to sections, blocks, and text. Add text or include a template for layer notes. Create a track change to apply to all drawings in a folder. (video: 3:15 min.)

You can import markup from printed paper or PDFs, as well as from other digital sources. Export markup as a portable format. (video: 3:26 min.)

Speed up your work by viewing and editing markup before you create the layout. (video: 4:13 min.)

Track changes quickly and easily with live changes. Markup is automatically applied as you draw. (video: 1:13 min.)

Make sure every change stays with the layer it was made on. (video: 3:30 min.)

Add layers as comments or tags. Assign comments to drawing sections or blocks, or assign tags to layers or blocks. (video: 4:36 min.)

Format tables or text in a drawing. Apply formatting, such as horizontal rules and font color, to tables or text in the drawing. (video: 4:42 min.)

Set up tables and text for formatting, so your text looks just the way you want it. (video: 4:10 min.)

Create predefined layout that you can use with layers and blocks. (video: 3:48 min.)
